LOS ANGELES — Serena Williams is returning to the sports activities highlight to host The ESPYS in July.
The retired 23-time main event winner would be the fourth girl to helm the present honoring the previous 12 months’s achievements, athletes and moments. The ESPYS will air July 11 from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
Megan Rapinoe, Sue Hen and Russell Wilson co-hosted the 2020 present, which was digital due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Danica Patrick was the primary girl to host solo in 2018, shortly after she retired from auto racing.
“This can be a dream come true for me, and one thing I’ve needed to do for so long as I can keep in mind,” Williams mentioned in a press release Tuesday. “It has been a sensational 12 months for sports activities and an unprecedented one for feminine athletes. I can not wait to have fun everybody onstage in July.”
Williams gained 12 ESPYS throughout her tennis profession.
The ESPYS will observe the July 10 premiere of “Within the Area: Serena Williams,” an eight-part collection chronicling her profession that airs on ESPN+.
Williams retired after the 2022 U.S. Open and has since devoted her time to such pursuits as a make-up line that debuted in April and a enterprise capital agency that invests in ladies and founders of shade in early-stage firms. She gave delivery to her second daughter in August.
